 An update!  It has been very hard to get into picture taking and posting lately... so here is what we've been up to for the last few months!  Ava started pre-k.  Very bittersweet.  She loves it, I went on a field trip with her class today and it was so funny to see how she interacts with the other kids.

 Ava gets very perturbed when her brother touches her things.  True put on her fancy shoes and she was NOT happy about it.  Made me laugh.

 Yet another example of when True foils Ava's plans.  The fireplace is her stage and she did not want True dancing on it with her.  So she decided to pout while True broke it down with his guitar.

 True is still into monster trucks.  If I were more creative I would make him a monster truck costume for Halloween... He pretends to be a monster truck and makes all the noises and runs around the house.  It is pretty funny.

He also falls asleep in awkward positions and it is so cute to see him just fall asleep randomly.  Love him..

In other news, another 12 weeks till we meet #3!

 It has been a while!  School has started and we're back in the swing of things!  Ava and True love jumping on bubble wrap!

 Fun times in the tub...

Ava is really into cutting and gluing.. saw this cute idea on pinterest and made it with her.  She wrote Ava's house on it.. each square is a person - I am the green holding the orange (me holding True).  True has gotten a nasty cold and has a nose like a faucet today.. poor kid needs a haircut, I know!

School is going well - 27 students (17 girls!).. Ava starts pre-k in a few weeks, and True is into monster   trucks and all things boy..

 An update of what we've been doing lately... I have been having some delicious peaches from my grandpa's orchard.  Yum!

 Crossing at least one thing off the old summer bucket list.. cleaning out the garage, with a little help from Ava.  She is afraid to sweep up spider webs though, so that does present a problem since there are tons of spider webs!

We went to the Cozy around the Campfire program at the library this morning.  They sang campfire songs, made these 'smores' (it took True about 20 minutes to eat this), and played some instruments.  Our library does a good job with kid programs, and I love getting to take them!

 The temperature finally took a dip and we enjoyed some outside play time.  I've felt pretty trapped inside with the insane temperatures, so it was very nice to be outside without sweating in the first 10 seconds.

We got some water and paint brushes out to play with.  Ava thought this was pretty fun, True thought it was more fun to take his cars to the "car wash" and dump the water everywhere.  Good times.

It is unbearably hot outside.  So this is what we did. We brought the pool to the front yard, since that is where we have shade, and the kids splashed and "dove."  You can see True's awesome form.  They had a blast.  I sweat to death in a chair.  Ugh.  

VBS Week

This is a hectic week - VBS, swim lessons, story time at the library, etc., etc.  Ava is having a blast though.  Last night was BJ's turn to be up for the dunk tank and her name got called to come up and throw a ball at the target.  She had no trouble getting up in front of a gym full of 500+ people to do this!  She was all about it!  In fact, tonight she told me they did not call her name and she was a bit disappointed.  She has no fear...

True stayed dry all through the day today!  He even stayed dry at nap time... He has been so much easier than Ava!  It is a good thing, we are saving about two year's worth of buying diapers if he had been on the same track as Ava!  Whew!

An Update...

 We started potty training True... I wish I could say it was a smashing success... but I will say it has gone better than when we potty trained Ava.  I can't decide if I should let him figure out when he needs to go or put him on a timed schedule - every 45 minutes.  So far, I've done a little of both.  He stays dry when I take him every 45 minutes, he does not when I let him be in charge.  What to do, what to do... He does look cute in his undies.. I will say that.

 Ava has started playing by herself more, which is nice.  She is taking swimming lessons for the next two weeks and I think she is going to pass this level.  Woohoo!

 Lately, True thinks every food is a finger food.  Which is immediately followed by "napkin, mommy, napkin!"

 Truett turned two this past week.  He had a train cake - he was so excited about the train on the cake!

Trains and tractors were his favorite gifts... Poor books and clothes got tossed aside...

 Life in motion!

11 days of school left.

True will be turning 2 in a week and a half.

He tinkled in the potty tonight.  Woohoo!

I'll be spending lots of time listening to this jabber-jaw.

She requested me to sing the "hawkingbird song" tonight.

When we were swimming on Saturday, she wanted to swim in the "dead end" and told me she would not "drain."  Whew.. I'm glad.

 We had a pretty great 3-day weekend.  I can't wait for summertime!

I took Ava to preschool on Friday and True to the minute clinic... he had a bad case of hand, foot, mouth.. gross.  Poor baby had a rash all over him and nasty little blisters.  They are going away finally, but he was pretty miserable there for a while.  We went swimming on Saturday.  Today we went to the park and played on the playground.  We had to enjoy some ice cream cups that were hanging out in the freezer when we got home.  Yum!

True does this really cute thing right now.  When you ask him something and he wants it he says, "Uh-huh."  His little voice goes up on the huh part.  So sweet.  I must get it on video before it goes away.

He may also beat Ava on the potty training front...

Ava enjoyed her ice cream too.  Tomorrow is her special day at preschool.  She can't wait!  She has already been in my room twice telling me Fuzzy keeps waking her up.

 The kids helped BJ mow tonight...

True watered the grass (it really needed it..)  We played with the water table too.. mostly to get Ava to eat her dinner (she was being poky, so we left her at the dinner table and played right outside the door!)

 I got a tree from the Arbor Day program at school and finally brought it home to plant.  It is the size of a stick, but we'll give it a whirl!

 There were lots of worms hanging out... True was not excited about seeing them.

Ava didn't mind holding them since she had her gloves on.  Although, when one started wiggling, she was ready to put them down!

 It turned out to be a decent afternoon... so we played outside for a while.  True likes walking on the blocks.. he also likes tromping right through the flowers.  There is a set of True sized footprints through my phlox.

 True and Ava got a soccer ball.  True really likes kicking it.. although he picks it up every time Ava gets close because he doesn't want her to get it!

 Ava enjoyed running and jumping on her swing.. until she flew over the swing.. then she was done! (and her momma was glad, a little scary seeing it in action!).  I love how True is in the background kicking away...

True is the ultimate copycat right now!

Only 17 more school days left... can you believe it?!

 Tonight Ava read a story to True.  It was so sweet.  I'm so glad that sometimes they have moments of sweetness (and that I'm there to witness it).

My favorite thing about bath night.  BJ wraps True up in a towel and he walks around like a mummy.  It's so cute...

Once again my pictures are out of order... grr..

The one pretty picture I got of Ava showing off her new Fancy Dancy (as she calls them) book...

We had Easter lunch over at my aunt and uncle's house. True found Tait's new bike... He climbed on it all by himself, then Pop-Pop got suckered into pushing him all around the yard.

True fell asleep from all the excitement about half-way home (it is about a 7 minute car ride.. boy was tired!).

I tried to get Ava and True together for an Easter picture. As you can see, Ava was not having it. I love the sequence of these pictures... First, she shows that she is irritated that she has to get her picture taken by crossing her arms and being grumpy.

Then, after I tell her to uncross her arms and smile she puts this grimace on her face. True, by now, is simultaneously sucking his thumb and picking his nose (talent).

And then he goes in for the kill. Gives Ava a big old hug. She hangs onto the grumps for a little bit longer but then he attempts to kiss her and she starts giggling... This leads to brother chasing sister around the room... At least they're becoming friends!

It has been a while! I really don't know where the time goes, but here I am. We have been busy, always busy.

These pictures got a bit out of order.. we dyed eggs today and then let the kids hunt for them (it was a redneck egg hunt. Both kids already had baths and so we just put shoes and jackets on over their jammies... so redneck, but no one else saw us!) This is Ava on the pounce...

This is what True does when he gets hold of an egg... throws it until it breaks apart. Then he is disgusted...
